The most important things to look for in a good lice comb are 1) that it is made of quality materials, 2) that it is well shaped so you can easily pull it through your hair and 3) that the teeth of the comb are spaced correctly.

Comparison of lice combs

Clinic lice comb ★★★★★

Nitcomb-M2 Lice comb ★★★☆☆

The Nitcomb-M2 Lice Comb has a double row of teeth, one with a wide gap and the other with a narrow gap. This combination makes the comb effective.

The comb is rated low for two reasons: 1) because it is not suitable for all hair types and 2) because it is made from low-quality materials.

Acu-Life seal comb ★★☆☆☆

Acu-Life is a close-tooth comb with two comb heads: 1) one with long teeth for long, thin or fine hair and 2) one with short teeth for short, curly or thick hair. Also included is a brush, tweezers and a handle that fits the comb heads.

The Acu-Life dense combs have been given a low rating because the grip is poor, making combing difficult.

Lusi Lice comb ★☆☆☆☆

The Lusi lice comb contains two combs, making combing effective. The combs can be separated, making cleaning easier.

The downsides of this lice comb are that it is not suitable for all hair types (because the teeth are too close together) and that it is made from low-quality materials.

Below is a range of cheap combs, all of which are of low quality (lower than all the combs above). They are not recommended by default, but are included for the sake of completeness:

 

Electric lice combs

Electric lice combs are a great alternative to lice repellents because they are completely chemical-free and comb the hair effectively. 

An electric lice comb works by emitting a very weak electric current that kills lice. The current is too weak for humans to feel, so there is no discomfort or discomfort associated with using the comb.
